FOUNDATION HISTORY
In 1977, a gift of farmland st St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church became the catalyst that led to the development of St. John Parish Foundation. Fr. Arthur Badger was pastor at the time and he along with seven parishioners established the St. John Parish Foundation. This foundation would be dedicated to creating ways to ensure the financial security of St. John Parish and Schools for future generations.
The St. John Foundation is governed by five Parish Foundation Members and a Board of Trustees. The Members include the Bishop of Toledo, the Chancellor of the Dioceses of Toledo, the Pastor of St. John Parish, the Principal of St. John High School and the Business Manager of St. John Parish. The Trustees are approved by the Members and are responsible for the day-to-day operations, including the promotion and management of the assets of the Foundation. Assets have grown over the years through tax-deductible contributions of stock, personal property, real estate, grain, cash, and other forms of gifts. A socially responsible investment strategy has brought significant growth to the funds and consequently, the ability for the Foundation’s funds to provide substantial donations to the Parish each year.
In 2001, a separate fund was added to the foundation. The Teachers Endowment Fund supplements the salaries of our dedicated teachers annually.
The St. John Parish Foundation is a continuing ministry that has enhanced and secured the future of the parish for generations to come. Through the planned giving legacies of our members, supporters and friends of St. John the Evangelist parish, the Foundation will continue to fulfill its mission of financial support for years to come.
